Visting friends in Chattanooga!

This past weekend we went to Chattanooga, Tennessee to visit some of our good friends, Jay and Chelsea. When Kevin and I got there Friday night, we all went to eat at a local hangout. The restaurant was located on the river and had docks where people could park their boats and eat. The food was okay but the best part was listening to people try to sing karaoke(and of course people watching).

On Saturday, we got up early so that we could go layout by the pool all day. We spent majority of Saturday laying out and swimming. It was so much fun and the water felt great, especially after laying out in 95 degree weather! We finally left the pool at 4:30pm so that we could get ready for dinner. We had a few drinks at Jay’s apartment and then called a cab to take us to downtown. We ate on the strip at this restaurant called The NorthShore Grille. All of our food was awesome and reasonably priced. For dessert we walked down the street to a soft-serve yogurt place called Sweet Cece’s, we love our sweets! After we enjoyed our yogurt, we walked across the bridge to some bars and local pubs.

On Sunday, we woke up late and went and grabbed lunch at the Green Life Market, similar to Whole Foods. They had a ton of options and lots of organic food choices. After eating lunch, we made the trek back to Atlanta. We had the best weekend! And lucky for us, they now only live about 1 ½ hours from us so we will be able to visit them often!

Braves Game with Besties!

I know, I know….I am behind on blogging. It’s been a crazy couple of weeks but I promise I will try harder to blog as soon as something happensJ

A couple weeks ago one of my best friends, Leigh Anna and her fiancĂ©, Bagby, came to visit us. Once they got to our house on Saturday, we headed down to Turner Field to watch our beloved Braves take on the Washington Nationals! We tailgated and drank a few beers before heading into the game. One of the most exciting parts of the game happened in the 7th….during the 7th inning stretch, a man in a wedding dress jumped onto the warning track and started sprinting across the field holding a bouquet of flowers. He got half-way across the field and was tackled by the security guards, it was hilarious! The whole stadium cheered for him as they carried him off the field, too bad he had to spend the night in jail though.  Even though the Braves lost, we had a ton of fun at the game!

After the game, there was a B52’s post game concert. The band had a ton of energy and got people dancing. We of course stayed until we heard Love Shack, which was at the end, and then we headed home. The next morning we woke up and made breakfast and then Leigh Anna and Bagby headed back to Birmingham. We had such a nice visit! I look forward to seeing Leigh Anna again in a few weeks for her Bachelorette party in Nashville, TN!

Redecorating…kind of!

Have I told that my husband can be pretty persuasive? Or maybe I just easily cave because I love him so much! Either way, we now have a TV hanging above our fireplace…..since we moved into our house (over 2 years ago), he has always wanted to mount the TV. I was never keen on the idea because I thought it would make our house look like a “bachelor pad”, so we ended up buying a really nice TV cabinet instead - I even let Kevin pick it out, hoping this would stop him from thinking about mounting the TV. Well it worked for a little while but then he brought it up again and really wanted to do. I finally gave in because I have decorated the whole house and that was the only thing he has asked to do, so we did it. We went out and bought a tilting TV mount and decided to put it up last week.  Hanging the TV mount up was not hard, hiding the wires was the real challenge.

On Sunday, my dad and grandfather came over to help hide the cords and move an outlet behind the TV.  This took a while because they had to drill through several studs and weave it down the wall.  We ended up having to cut out some dry wall just so we could get the cords thru the wall to see where we needed to drop the cords. Haha, I just noticed I have been saying “we” but I actually mean they…..I supervised what was going on though J

Once the outlet was moved and the cords were hidden behind the TV, Kevin then had to patch the wall, sand and re-paint.  I must say, I am happy with it being above the TV because we have more room in our living room and more importantly, it makes Kevin happy. Oh the compromises you make in a marriage…..

I love the 4th of July!

I love the 4th of July! Every aspect of it – summertime, watching fireworks, spending time with family, playing at the lake, eating delicious food and taking part in fun games; not to mention, we get a 3 day weekend!

Every year, the town of McCaysville, GA sets off fireworks…we of course never miss it!  This year the fireworks were on Friday night so as soon as we got in to town, we staked out a spot where we wanted to watch the show.  As always, the fireworks were spectacular!
Saturday morning we woke up early and headed to Lake Bear Paw in NC. This is one of our favorite lakes because it's very peaceful and is surrounded by beautiful mountains. We spent the day riding around on the pontoon boat, swimming in the water and tubing. Needless to say, we were exhausted when we got home that night.
On Sunday, we spent the day playing in the creek and enjoying a game of Bocce Ball. Later that night, we set off our own fireworks while patriotic music played in the background. As with all of the 4th of July's in the past, this was one to remember!
Bocce Ball Champs! Unfortunately, I was not apart of that team :(
